Why Fivden

Your laboratory agreement is more than a price list.

Laboratory relationships can include negotiated rates, discounts, annual increases, minimum-spend commitments, rebates, credits, equipment, warranties, subscriptions and location-specific terms.

Fivden gives management an independent view of whether those commercial terms are reflected in what the organisation is actually paying.

What Fivden checks

Commercial control across the laboratory relationship.

01

Negotiated pricing

Compare billed tests against rates contained in the relevant agreement or rate card.

02

Price increases

Review whether changes appear consistent with agreed timing and commercial terms.

03

Discounts

Check whether negotiated discounts are reflected in billing.

04

Spend commitments

Track actual spend against contractual commitments and thresholds.

05

Credits & rebates

Keep expected credits, rebates and adjustments visible and traceable.

06

Equipment & warranties

Review recurring charges tied to equipment, warranties or services.

07

Subscriptions

Compare programme fees, recurring charges and tiers with the documented arrangement.

08

Multi-location terms

Identify differences in how locations are billed against applicable terms.

09

Billing discrepancies

Surface differences between expected and actual billing for further verification.

10

Renewals

Keep key commercial dates and review windows visible to management.

How it works

Start small. Verify the numbers. Expand only if useful.

1

Provide the relevant terms

Share pricing pages, rate cards, amendments or commercial clauses relevant to the review.

2

Provide billing

Send a recent laboratory invoice or statement. Redacted documents are accepted.

3

Fivden compares the two

Commercial rules are structured and checked against actual charges.

4

Receive evidence-backed findings

Potential differences are linked back to supporting commercial sources and presented for verification.

Ongoing control

A clean bill is still useful information.

Fivden is designed to give management an ongoing financial-control view of the laboratory relationship, not manufacture discrepancies where none exist.

FAQ

Questions before you share anything.

Do I need to send my entire laboratory contract?

No. You can begin with the pages containing the relevant pricing and commercial terms.

Do you need patient information?

No patient information is needed for the commercial review. Please redact unnecessary identifying information before sending documents.

Do I need to book a call?

No. The initial process can be handled entirely by email.

What if Fivden finds nothing wrong?

That is still a useful outcome. The purpose is to independently verify the commercial relationship, not manufacture discrepancies.

Does a Fivden finding mean the laboratory has definitely overcharged us?

No. Findings should initially be treated as items requiring verification. Amendments, credits and other context may explain a difference.

How much does Fivden cost?

During the Founding Practice Programme, selected initial historical reviews are complimentary. Ongoing monitoring pricing will depend on practice size, locations and laboratory complexity.
